Middle School News

3 weeks to go!!

This year is coming quickly to a close, but we still have so much to do!

Can you please help to remind students that we still need to demonstrate excellence, resilience and respect at school as well as striving to be the best we can be even though it is getting close to Christmas. We are still running our normal Middle School program until the last week of term. Please encourage your students to be completing their weekly homework and returning it to school each Wednesday.

We are looking forward to all the fun things that Term 4 still has in store, this includes: 2020 Class Transition (10/12), Christmas Carols (11/12), Middle School Excursion (13/12) and our Celebration Day Colour Run (19/12).

End of Year Arrangements

Miss May will be taking over the Foundation class for the last two weeks of the year, we will be restructuring our Middle School classes from December 9th. Students from Middle C will finish the year split between Middle A and Middle B. At KPS Middle School students often work together in this way and are very used to working with Mr Roscoe and Mrs Barley. We will be ensuring that Miss May is available to be a part of many of the end of year celebrations to honour the great relationships she has formed with her students this year. Please be assured that your child's learning is a priority and that we will continue to provide an excellent curriculum for all middle school students between now and the end of the year.

If you have any queries at all about these arrangements, please don't hesitate to contact the office and arrange a time to discuss these with Mr Gooding.

Student Reflections

We have been working hard on our flicks and really working towards our pen and joining licenses.

I've learnt that there is plenty of ways to make a number, like with an abacus or a worded problem that can be expanded, or place value with decimals. I really enjoyed learning about place value and decimals. Decimals are just like money, here is a number with decimals 2.50 and here it is in money $2.50, they are the same. - Jaslyn

We have been working hard on money and place value, with decimals and fractions this week. In Maths, and in our writing we've been focusing on writing on all different types of poems. We've also learnt how to double and triple numbers. We have really enjoyed things like that game with money and decimals. The final thing I really enjoyed was the Jump Disco - best night of my life!! All the pumping music and smiling faces I saw on the night, made it awesome! - Alex

Fancy Dress Day

It was such fun to dress up in our fanciest clothes for our celebration day. Some of our middle school students went all out in their suits and others wore their favourite dresses. It was a lovely day to celebrate all our hard work around PBS this term. We are looking forward to our end of term Colour Run celebration too.
