Principal's Report

Term 3

Welcome back to term 3, and a cold, cold welcome it is too! Everyone seems to have settled back into the routine and the learning continues unabated in the classrooms.

We welcome back Mansi Vadera from her family leave. Mansi will be supporting the work in the office and providing coaching and staff development for teachers across the school. At the same time, we will soon farewell Penny Forster, who will begin her own family leave soon. The Lyndhurst family is certainly growing!

I also want to thank Carolyn Burns who took over in the 5/6 whilst Emma Galvin spent some time in a leadership role in the office. Carolyn did a great job to ensure that the learning continued seamlessly during Emma’s absence from the room.

New Playground

I know many of you will have seen the new playground equipment over by the back fence of the school. This new equipment is “all ages” and has been well used this week, despite the inclement weather.

This week we have been giving grade levels “exclusive use” to phase in the use of the playground.

On the first morning the playground looked like an ant farm, there were so many children on it! The playground has been provided through the tireless work of our PFA and their fundraising efforts.

The PFA has been saving up for some time for the equipment and it’s been great to see the results of their efforts so well appreciated by the students. I hope you will continue to support the PFA through their remaining activities this year.

Environment Room

Have you taken a peek into the Environment Room lately? If you haven’t, I suggest you do so. Over the holidays Dean Smith, environmental artist, has been transforming our Environmental Science Room from a stark, bare classroom to an environmental paradise.

Murals, grassy floor coverings and natural materials have all contributed to an amazing new look for the room and the children have been so excited to see the results of his work.

I know our fantastic Science Teacher, Claire Alexander is loving it!

Planet Ark Tree Day

On the 24th July, we will be celebrating Planet Ark Tree Day with planting activities around our school.

DTZ, our facilities management company will be supporting us with materials and personnel and many children will be involved in helping to beautify our playground.

You might like to take the opportunity to celebrate the day and plan a tree yourself!
