Parents and Friends Association (PFA)

Helping Hands Program

Helping Hands is a fostering program aimed at strengthening and assisting an already powerful John Monash Science School community in various areas and times of need. Helping Hands is an extension of the John Monash Parents and Friends Association.

An area of need is with translations.  We request JMSS P&F notices, letters, invitations and newsletters be translated from English to be distributed throughout our community. Your talent and time is highly sought after. Helping Hands need you to join in and also give assistance at our JMSS Parents and Friends meetings, BBQ and Events to help include all those who would otherwise feel isolated due to their perceived lack of English language fluency.

Your help is also needed by way of donations of non-perishable food items for students. The donations are offered in a way that does not cause embarrassment or a feeling of shame.

Could we please have donations delivered to the JMSS  front reception in bags marked Helping Hands. We are  seeking cans of the following items but not limited to:

  • Canned meals (i.e. chilli and beans, stew);
  • Canned soup;
  • Canned vegetables  (small);
  • Canned fruits;
  • Canned meats;
  • Canned tuna/fish;
  • Canned pulses
  • Sachets of ready rice .
  • (Microwave for 40 to 60 Seconds)
  • Packets of biscuits. (Sweet, Savoury and Breakfast)

All non perishable meals and items from a diverse range of cultures, along with anything which will fit in the school bag, is ready to go, and can be mixed and matched for a quick meal would be greatly appreciated.

Exams are hard enough without  the added stress of hunger due to an unexpected emergency situation.

Thank you for your action and your support helping out when life gets a little  tricky.

Sincerely,

JMSS Parents and Friends Association
