INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
MUSIC WORKSHOPS
Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 June
Last week over 120 Music students participated in three days of music workshops with their band/ensemble leaders.
Each band/ensemble started the day with Ms Cumming in an all in group session where students learnt about the physicality involved in playing an instrument. Students also participated in a trivia competition that saw many students go home with great prizes. Students were also given a wristband, display folder, pencil, as well as lunch on the day!
Students were then given Periods 2 to 5 to work on their performance pieces of music with their band/ensemble leaders. All students worked hard and achieved great work.
During Period 6 a 'Mini Concert' was held in which students performed for each other.
At the end of the day, students were given their Mid-Year Concert Indemnity notice, which will be held on Monday 22 June.
A big thank you from all the Instrumental Music staff who ran each workshop for their band/ensemble. Thanks also to the excellent Instrumental Music students. We were very proud of all the work achieved on the day.

MID YEAR CONCERT
Monday 22 June
6.30 pm
School Hall
All students involved in the band/ensemble program are required to attend the Instrumental Music Mid Year Concert performance evening.
Sudents who participate in the bands/ensembles will be performing works that they have been working on most recently at the workshops, as well as during the semester.
We invite all family and friends of students to attend on the night.
Students were given a notice at the June workshops about their required band uniform, as well as the indemnity form and concert poster. All students must return their concert attendance indemnity form by Monday June 15 to the PAC Office.
The Instrumental Music Department is looking forward to seeing you all there to support the students and their fantastic performance work from this semester!

SYMPHONY PROJECT
Tim Huddleston (Year 11)
On Thursday June 4, at Hamer Hall, Tim Huddleston took to the stage of the Arts Centre to perform with over 50 secondary school students and their professional counterparts in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
As part of Education Week, Tim performed on Tuba as part of the initiative that puts school students in the spotlight. Conducted by Johannes Fritzsch, this special performance featured works from core orchestra repertoire.
Congratulations to Tim on all of his hard work attending rehearsals and performing as part of the orchestra. We are excited to see what lies ahead for Tim in future performances.
BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Yarra Ranges (Level-Up FReeZA/Push Start)
Victoria's largest all ages music competition returns to the Yarra Ranges for 2015. Bands of any style or genre and invited to participate.
Entries are now open for youth music artists interested in playing shows, getting professional advice, recording their music and scoring awesome prizes!

BAND/ENSEMBLES
Students are expected to attend their band/ensemble rehearsals weekly, especially leading up to the Mid Year Concert.
Rehearsals for all bands/ensembles in Term 2 are on the following days:
