SCIENCE

Year 10

TERM 1 NEWS

We’ve had a busy start to the year in the Science Department. The Year 7s have been learning about science safety and the Year 8s have been investigating energy changes.

In Year 9, students will be discussing pathogens and disease, which is timely given the current situation with Coronavirus.

The new core Science semester at Year 10, has started off well and the students will soon be applying their knowledge of chemistry to an evaluation of the water in Lillydale Lake.

Our wonderful VCE students in Psychology, Biology, Chemistry and Physics are also working hard on material for SAC 1.

IN THE CLASSROOMS

The Year 10 students have been using our Molymods to explore molecules and their chemical formula.

In Year 11 Psychology, the students used M&M's to model the difference between a obtaining a random sample and a stratified random sample.

Year 11 Chemistry students have also been refining their Key Science Skills.

In Year 12 Biology, the students have been developing their Key Science Skills, while investigating the effect temperature and pH on a cell membrane.
