A big thank you to everyone for coming down this morning and taking part in the Easter Hat parade.  Thank you also to our Junior School Council and Mrs. Briggs for organising the event.  What a fabulous community we have!

Term One has been an exciting term:

  • We welcomed our 2023 Prep students, as well as some new students at other levels across our school.
  • Our students and staff have worked to build new relationships, set up routines and get into the flow of learning for 2023.
  •  Our new 5/6 classroom furniture arrived.
  • Our staff coaching program began.
  • We had our Welcome BBQ, World of Maths incursion and 'Get to know You' interviews.
  • Our Learning support program kicked off, ensuring all student across our school are accessing learning at their point of need.
  • Chess club continued and Circus Club began.
  • Our Year 5/6 leaders went to the Move, Lead, Succeed days
  • 5/6s went kayaking at Lilydale lake
  • We held our Prep 'Twilight Tour' for 2024 preps and our Whole School Swimming Carnival.
  • Our 5/6 staff and students travelled to camp at Karoonda on the snowy river for 5 days.
  • Our Yr 3 and 5 students sat NAPLAN testing.
  • We had some visits from Yarra Junction library staff.
  • Our 5/6 students had their first Upper Yarra SC transition session.
  • Our P and F ran a fantastic colour run raising almost $7,000 for our school.
  • Our Yr 3/4 students attended camp at Sovereign Hill
  • We had our school photos, a productive curriculum day for staff around the teaching of mathematics and our P-2 Yarra Junction museum was a blast.

Our district athletics day yesterday was such a great event.  We were so proud to see our students having a go, even when it seemed a bit tricky, pushing themselves to achieve their personal best, supporting their school mates and cheering each other on.  It was great to see some of our past students, who are now big kids at high school and hear about how they are going.  Thank you to our staff, especially Mrs. Kemp and Paul for their work in organising us and ensuring everything was set up; and to our wonderful parent helpers who really brought a sense of community to the event.

We so look forward to Term Two!

Today as we prepare for a bit of a break I just wanted to acknowledge the contribution of Erin Pearson, who has taught one of our Yr 5/6 class this term. Thank you Erin for jumping in this term and for the care, thought and teaching you have provided.  We wish you well for the future.

I hope everyone enjoys a fabulous break and a bit of down time over the holidays. Please remember the 2:30PM finish this afternoon.  We will then look forward to seeing you all return on Wednesday 26th April.
