Dear parent/carer

Welcome to the 2023 Victorian Premiers’Reading Challenge.

The Premiers’ Reading Challenge will take your child on a journey where they can discover fascinating people, places, and things in every story.

As your child let’s their imagination run wild, they will also gain important skills and knowledge. We know reading helps nurture important literacy skills that will be with your child for life.

Each child who completes the Premiers’ Reading Challenge will get a letter from me, that is also signed by past Victorian State Premiers.

For children who are yet to start school, I invite you to experience 40 books with your child as part of the Challenge.

Students from Prep to Grade 2 are challenged to read or experience 30 books. For students from Grade 3 to Year 10, the challenge is to read 15 books.

There are thousands of books for your child to choose from on the Premiers’ Reading Challenge book list, to suit their interests. There are also many ways that children of all abilities can participate in the Challenge. Visit the Including all studentswebpage for more information.
