Assembly Performance

Thank you and congratulations to Simeon Gee (Year 7) for his exciting performance of the “Athletic Theme” from Super Mario World by Koji Kondo at assembly this week.

Orpheus Strings Concert 

Last Sunday, Emily Colbran (Year 12) performed at the Orpheus Strings Concert alongside Alumni Ms Clare Cooney (2012) and Mrs Elizabeth Harding (nee Cooney, 2005), with BMGS parent Mr Mark Kinnear, under the directorship of Mrs Julie Cooney. 

They performed the challenging but incredibly beautiful and evocative Souvenir de Florence by Tchaikovsky. Clare Cooney, who currently plays with the Queensland Camerata and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra performed Rhapsody for All Seasons for solo violin and orchestra by Australian composer Nicholas Buc. This work drew upon many different styles of music and displayed a high level of virtuosity for the solo violin. 

Clare also performed Cantabile by Paganini accompanied by Mrs Julie Cooney on piano as an encore. The concert was a huge success and was a great opportunity to hear talented musicians from our BMGS community perform.
