Kinross Wolaroi School exists to provide a challenging and holistic education that equips our students to live meaningful lives and make a positive contribution to society. The boarding program and the boarding staff are fully committed to this mission statement. It informs everything that we do, all our interactions with the boarders in our care and our guidance and support of boarders in their relationships with one another.

When our boarders leave us to begin the rest of their lives in the wider world they will be required to interact with people of different cultures, educational backgrounds, experiences, and genders. It is essential, therefore, that we provide similar experiences and interactions during their time with us. Being a co-educational boarding school allows us to provide many opportunities that are reflective of the real world and that are not afforded to boarders and students at a single-sex school. Students from different backgrounds, cultures, and regions come together, promoting a culture of understanding, tolerance, and respect. This diversity prepares students for the challenges of the global community and fosters an appreciation of different perspectives.

Interactions on the sporting field, in the classroom, on excursions and during boarding activities enable students to learn to work and live with each other, improving their social and communication skills. At Kinross Wolaroi our students learn to appreciate diversity and inclusiveness, and they develop a sense of empathy and respect for their peers.

In boarding we have a particular focus on providing high quality and meaningful activities where boarders from both the PLC campus and the Wolaroi campus can enjoy time together and can develop and grow personally. Students learn to be independent, responsible, and self-reliant. They develop leadership skills and learn to manage their time effectively. Co-educational boarding schools provide a safe and secure environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

The focus of Term 1 has been to enable lots of opportunities for our boarders across both sites and across various year and house groups to mingle and socialise during our weekend program. We have held numerous cross-site events including International Women's Day activities, various BBQs and games nights as well as afternoons at the PLC pool and Zorb Balls on the ovals. It has been wonderful to see the support for Girls Rugby 7s from our boy boarders and the chants from the hill during our final home games on Friday were particularly special.

Term 2 will be an opportunity to build on the successes of Term 1. Amongst some of the events being planned, our boarders can look forward to a Year 10 Dance hosted by Wolaroi House along with cross-site cinema experiences, sporting fixtures, time out at Windermere and year group socials. ABSA's National Boarding Week will be cerebrated from May 14-20th and the theme is 'The Patchwork of Boarding'. At Kinross Wolaroi, we look forward to celebrating the continual development of the strong threads that bind together our boarding community.
