Junior School Sport

Mr Tim Jones, Junior School Sport Co-ordinator

As the summer sport season comes to a close it was the KWS Lakers who were flying the flag for Junior School sport. Congratulations to Mr Barrett and his team for making it to the final. On another day, victory could have been theirs. Regardless, this is a monumental achievement, and the boys should be so proud of their efforts. Thank you to all the parents for their support throughout the season and we look forward to a successful season of Winter sport after the Easter break.

23.03.2023 – Beware

Sometimes sport can be a simple equation. Other times a monstrous effort to dig deep, play with poise and create self-success.

Thursday March 23, the KWS Lakers headed into our 4pm match against the rivals across the hill with a simple equation in mind. An equation to win as we continue to march onto finals and successfully finish our campaign with the winner’s cup in hand.

An equation may have been in our minds; however, it was a monstrous effort to maintain synergy throughout the match. With a court change last minute due to wet weather, the Lakers headed into our Semi-Finals 1 with frozen shoulders and feet that were still stuck in the mud. A few quick substitutions and quarter time arriving when needed, we built momentum and attacked with fire for the remainder of the match. Wow! What an adrenaline filled game. A game that was won through the defensive efforts of this team. 16 – 13, our way!

All Lakers’ legends play an equal part within our team synergy. I am extremely proud of the success we have had so far this year and look forward to the final weeks of what has been a breathtaking, memorable, and enjoyable season.

As the legend goes, beware of barking at underdogs.

2 matches. 2 wins. 1 cup. KWS, it’s coming home!

CIS swimming

Congratulations to the 14 pupils who represented HICES at the CIS swimming carnival at SOPAC on 22 March. A fantastic time was had by all and a few PB’s made for a successful trip. Thanks to Brandon and Brooke for their work with all the pupils in the pool, the children appreciate your time and effort in preparing them for events like this.
