Kitchen Garden

In the Kitchen

Week 9 & 10

Well, somehow we have reached the end of the term!!

The Kitchen classes have spent the past 2 weeks using excess produce from the garden and this week in particular it has been all about...

...CUCUMBERS, CUCUMBERS, CUCUMBERS!!!

We prepared cucumber 3 different ways and they each tasted completely different.

I was super glad to finally teach the children how to make Sushi! We filled the centers with cucumber, carrrot and celery and it they turned out perfectly.

 Alongside the sushi, we made a pickled cucumber salad... those sour tastes gave our taste buds a little party! Not only that, but we also tried to eat our salad with chopsticks! It was fun to try!

We finished with a cucumber and apple juice so we could use the very last of the apples from our tree and also a gorgeous little Easter treat: Chocolate Easter Nests.

These Easter treats are super simple and would be a great thing to try at home. All recipes are listed below.

Here are our weekly recipes;

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter and a restful holiday. Stay safe!

Garden News

 Back into the Autumn garden for Term 2 with  lots of fun jobs to do.  We harvested our Jerusalum  Artichokes, digging dip to pick out all the tubers from the soil.

We planted up our last veggie beds with snow peas and broccoli and started to pull out our ripe pumpkins.

It was a real buzz to have our Pizza oven roaring again, delicious pizzas with fresh and preserved ingredients from our garden. Bellissimo.

It was a cold and windy day for our Preps in the garden on Wednesday but we were able to have lots of fun.

Happy Gardening.
