Reminders
May 10 - first community walk
May 18 - second community walk
The children should have a small pocket-sized snack for brain food on these days. They will also need to wear their runners, and bring a coat or jacket.
It is an expectation that Grade 1 children read to an adult each night and the adult should log the reading in the diary. Grade 1 children should also do a spelling practice activity each night (Monday - Thursday in a normal week) as well as doing some of the Mathletics activities that have been set for them (10 - 20 minutes twice a week would be ideal).
In Grade 1 games are an integral part of our Maths learning, practise and exploration. Games give students opportunities to explore fundamental number concepts, such as the counting sequence, one-to-one correspondence, and computation strategies. Engaging mathematical games can also encourage students to explore number combinations, place value, patterns, and many other important mathematical concepts.
It would be great if your Grade 1 student had the opportunity to teach a favourite maths game (Greedy Pig, Last Number Standing, Beat The Teacher, Mastermind, Race To 100, Salute) to their families.
