Principal's Report

From the Principal

With the first signs of the winter months starting to appear, the start of our new school term has commenced in a positive and busy fashion.

It has, however, been rewarding to see our students refocus so quickly this term on their studies, on contributing to our wider community and being able to experience some of the events and opportunities that make College life rewarding and engaging. The energy, passion and engagement our students bring to College life can be inspirational on many levels.

For evidence of this, you do not have to look further than the first weeks of this new term.

Student Achievement

A warm congratulations is extended to Aidan H (Year 12) who was recently selected in the Australian Canoe Marathon Junior Team to compete in the 2023 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Denmark in August-September. A wonderful effort and opportunity – we wish Aidan all the very best in this elite event.

It should also be acknowledged that Kaiche F (Year 9) has this week been competing in the VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas, Texas, USA. The largest and most prestigious robotics competition in the world, sponsored and organised by Google, NASA, TESLA and a number of leading world IT companies, this event involves participation from thousandS of students and schools from around the globe.

The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation’s global mission is to provide every educator with competition, education, and workforce readiness programs to increase student engagement in science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science.

It is an amazing experience for Kaiche to be involved and we acknowledge his efforts in doing so.

A special mention is also afforded to Steven C (Year 9) who participated in the South East Asia Speed Skating Trophy in Singapore over the recent school holiday period. Steven competed against skaters from seven different countries in his division finishing a very credible 4th position in the 1000-meter race. Prior to this, Steven participated in the 2023 World Skate Oceania Championships in Brisbane, where he completed that competition with two gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals. Well done, Steven!
