Visual Art

Welcome to Term 2

I hope you had a lovely Term break and I'm looking forward to sharing the wonderful art our students are creating this term in Visual Art.

Foundation

Autumn has well and truly arrived at BPPS with many of the deciduous trees losing their leaves. The Foundation students noted and discussed how the leaves change colour and fall off the trees.  They drew a tree, used rubbing blocks to create the texture of bark and painted the background with a blue wash. They will complete their artworks next week.

Grade 1 and Grade 2

We are starting Term 2 by exploring and responding to the work of Australian artist and author Jeannie Baker. We read the books 'The hidden forest' and 'Where the forest meets the sea' and we paid particular interest to the images. Jeannie Baker uses collage to create images for her books. The students brainstormed materials, colours and shapes and have commenced work on their own collages.

Grade 3 and Grade 4

Our students in Grades 3 and 4 are also exploring the work of Australian artist and author Jeannie Baker. They read the book 'Window' and brainstormed various Australian landscapes. Students commenced with a sketched design of their landscape and have been researching materials that would best represent the objects and textures in their landscape.

Grade 5 and Grade 6

It is marvelous to see students in Grades 5 and 6 researching various art movements and discovering what art styles interest them as they are finishing their 'Museum Room' artworks. I'm looking forward to sharing their work when the project finishes next week.
