Catholic Youth Festival

Treasure Road's #ACYF19 journey

St Norbert College was represented by 14 student pilgrims at the 2019 Australian Catholic Youth Festival. The biennial event is held in different locations around Australia, with previous festivals held in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. This year Perth was chosen to host the event at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The three-day festival was filled with an array of faith-focused sessions that aimed to provide young people with the opportunity to engage more deeply in their relationship with Jesus and be witness to the power of the Holy Spirit in the Church of Australia and the world.

Our St Norbert students joined more than 5,000 young people from around the country and participated in plenary sessions with emphasis on prayer, worship, music and talks as well as many other workshop-style sessions over the course of the festival. They took away with them practical ways of seeking the Holy Spirit in their lives and challenged them to “listen to what the Spirit is saying”. They experienced laughter, tears and heartfelt love and peace and will look to embrace this further in their own lives and here at St Norbert College.

As you also may have seen through social media that St Norbert’s was invited to perform at the festival on the invitation of the Catholic Youth Ministry and were fortunate to have been chosen as the only musical item representing Catholic Education at the event. The students loved the experience and took away many musical skills in their largest performance to date.

Thank you to all of the students who participated and gave of themselves so fully to the experience - Licia Benedict, Courtney McCrostie, Christine Buluran, Emereen Moratalla, Jordan Cirillo, Regina Ndossi, Jen Hannah Darang, Jaslina Pereira, Isabella Ficko, Ariannah Tilli, Graciano Gacutno, Elicia Yii, Haggai Girsang and Sophia Lu.

Thank you as well to Ms Alysia Fogliani for her help in coordinating and giving of her time in the lead up to and at the festival itself.
