U15 Cricket Australia National Championship

Congratulations to Hayden Forner for his New South Wales representation at the Cricket Australia National Championship. The carnival consisted of six 50 over (one day) games where Hayden versed other states across the week. The carnival was held between the 20th and 27th in Ballarat, Victoria. Hayden was the wicket keeper in the team and middle order batsman. My NSW team unfortunately ended up coming 6th. Victoria Country won the tournament.

Hayden quoted “the quality of cricket was played at an exceptional level and I had an amazing experience playing against great cricketers”.

Well done Hayden on your excellent achievement.

2020 MCC Sporting Carnivals, BISSA Carnivals and CCC Representation

Due to the safety precautions taken to protect students from a COVID-19 possible outbreak, many sporting days and representation around the College and outside the College have been postponed until further notice. As a precaution, school sport for year 7 and 8 has been limited to all sport being held on school grounds. The same precaution has been taken for all PE lessons off school grounds. We have also postponed at this stage the MCC Cross Country. Mr Le Brocque and I will make a decision on the athletics carnival closer to the date.

There have also been many other carnivals and event cancellations from CEDWW and NSWCCC. Please see a list of all the postponed events below.

NSW Netball Schools Cup in Griffith

On Wednesday 11th March, 7 MCC Netball teams boy boys and girls attended the NSW Netball Schools Cup in Griffith. The NSW Netball Schools Cup provides the opportunity to enjoy netball in an inclusive and enjoyable environment.

All teams played extremely well on the day, showing off their skills and making new friends, we were very proud of you all. Many teams went through the day being undefeated. Many thanks to our umpires Isabella Salmon, Molly Balind and Taliysha Clements for your great work on the day.

Thanks to Mrs Cavallaro for her help on the day. 4 teams have made it through to the Riverina Finals to be held in Wagga in August. These teams are Yr 8 Girls, 9/10 Girls Gold, Yr 10 Boys and the 7/8 Boys teams. A BIG thanks to Mrs Morris and Miss Mc Mahon in helping me with selection and coaching of the teams, a massive effort!

Touch Football Wagga Wagga Diocesan Gala Day

On Wednesday 11th March the U15 girls and U15 boys competed at the Wagga Wagga Diocesan Touch Football Gala Day.

Our two Marian teams played 5 X 20 minute games against other schools in our diocese such as Kildare, Mater Dei, Xavier, St Francis and Canberra/Goulburn schools.

Meanwhile Marian had some open girls and boys trialing for selection in the Wagga Wagga diocesan open touch team to compete at the CCC Championship in Nelson Bay which unfortunately has been postponed. Well done to Zac Dal Broi, Isaac Testoni, Darcy Moon,  Lara Rosetto and Molly Townsing for their efforts in these trials.

Congratulations to Lara Rosetto and Molly Townsing who were selected in the open girls team.

U15 Girls

The girls improved in every game played on the day with excellent results. The girls won 3 games out of 5 with all players performing extremely well.  Congratulations to Sophia Kelsey who was selected in the U15 girls team and Alex Parisotto for being named as a shadow player.

U15 Boys

The boys team improved out of sight competing at a high level. This team was very dedicated and trained very hard for this day. The boys won two games and had very close games in their losses on the day. All players put 100% effort in every game played.
