On 25 July 2019 McAuley House participated in Athletics day held at Knox Park Athletics Track where each House competed against the others in order to win the House cup. The day gave the students the chance to win House points by participating in several events such as discus, shot-put, high jump, long jump, and track events such as the 50 metre and 100 metre sprint, as well as plenty more. The Year 12 students were allowed to dress up as certain characters to represent their House colours as it was their final Athletics day.

The students made memories and overall had fun. There was a good atmosphere and McAuley had some excellent competitors making the day very exciting. McAuley House finished in 3rd place on the day, doing pretty well, and overall the day was quite eventful.

Congratulations to McCormack for winning the athletics carnival. We would like to congratulate all on the incredible efforts as well as the students of Chisholm for their hard work and dedication.

Although it was very cold, it was great to see everyone try their hardest. We would like to give a big congratulations to Josephine, our exchange student from Denmark. While she did not have to enter in anything she did compete and was amazing.

Year 7 and 8 v Timbarra College

On Friday 26 July, the Year 7 and 8 Basketballers played their first ever game against Timbarra College. The girls got things under way and came up against a quality team that had a number of rep players who proved the difference. Our girls learned a great deal from this regarding the fitness required to play a game at this intensity and what they need to be working on to further improve.

The boys were involved in a much closer game and although they lost by 20 points we had some great performances by Andrya Oshla and Malcolm Kilfoyle.

The students and their coach will continue to work on elements of the game in preparation for the Junior SIS Basketball Competition in Term 4.

Year 8 HPE Sports Education
