Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians

In this edition, I would like to highlight some outstanding achievements by our staff and students.

Our students would not be able to take advantage of the many opportunities offered to them without the support of the wider College Community.  In many instances, parents go out of their way to transport their sons and daughters to and from rehearsals or training.  Staff give their time beyond what is expected, to be able to offer our students a multitude of opportunities.

I congratulate the more than 100 students who took on board the Australian Mathematics Competition Challenge.  This gives our Maths-minded students an opportunity to shine and compare themselves to similarly talented students across the state.

I thank Mrs Catherine High and the Mathematics staff members for their organisation within this event.

Early this week, after an initial cook-off, our Nazareth Teen Chef competitors were chosen to compete against other schools.  I congratulate:

  • Jessica Chandrasekera
  • Tehilah Kunfunda
  • Declan Bray
  • Celina El Rayes

for representing Nazareth College and winning a Bronze medallion.  It is wonderful to see the culinary delights created by the SIS competing schools.

I thank Ms Christine Vaughan for her work with these students and her coaching.  Both Christine and Mrs Patsy Furlong have done a lot of work overseeing our students and the competition.

Aeroschool Aerobics State Competition

For the first time, Nazareth College entered 12 students in the State Aerobics Competition.  The student teams were made up of two pairs, a trio and a team of five.

Their enthusiasm over the past couple of weeks has been inspiring.  They have trained daily and competed last week in Diamond Creek against many other schools.  They were outstanding!  I congratulate the team and Ms Amanda Mauceri for inspiring our students to compete.

Further congratulations go to the Year 8 Duo and Year 7 Trio teams that qualified to compete in the Nationals.

International News

Nazareth College is the worthy winner of two ACQ Global Awards for 2019:

  1. Australia – Education Facility of the Year
  2. Australia – Game Changer of the Year

I thank Mrs Emilia Fields and the International Team for the work that they are doing to ensure that all students reap the benefits of our International Programs.

In Conclusion

I would like to highlight to our Community an outstanding achievement of one of our staff members.

Mr Paull Ziegeler was the recipient of the Silver Emu Award offered by Scouts Australia.  This Award is for further distinguished service to Scouts Australia by an adult member in  an active leadership role for a period of at least four or five years since the Award of the Silver Koala.

We at Nazareth College are extremely proud and fortunate to have Paull on staff as our First Aid Officer.  Both staff and students are the beneficiaries of his vast experience.

On everyone’s behalf, we congratulate Paull and all the various groups that have been highlighted in this edition of the iNewsletter.

It is evident that Nazareth is a school of opportunity and I continue to encourage all to seize these opportunities as you never know where they can lead!
