Principal's Report

6th September 2019

Congratulations - Premier's Reading Challenge

Over the past few months the whole school has been participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) which ends today. The purpose of the challenge is to encourage our students to read more and develop their love of literacy and books. To complete the challenge, students in Year Prep-2 had to read 30 books while those in Year 3-6 needed to read 15. We can announce today the every single student in the WHOLE SCHOOL has completed the challenge. This an amazing effort and we are so proud of our students for this great achievement and dedication to reading. Well done to you all.

There were also quite a lot of students who read more books than were required to complete the challenge. Congratulations and well done to the following students who read over 100 books.

All of our students could not have completed the PRC without the help from their teachers and especially the PRC team of Mrs BC, Miss G, Miss Richards and Lamia. On behalf of everyone at the school thank you so much for all the effort, encouragement and help you provided to the staff and students over the course of the challenge to ensure everyone completed it. The team encouraged our students with rewards at assembly, reading clubs before school and during lunchtime and in general with their energy and enthusiasm for the PRC and reading to ensure every student was able to complete the challenge. Your efforts are greatly appreciated by all. Thank you!!!!!!

NAPLAN Results 2019

Congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students on their terrific NAPLAN results. Overall the students at Wheelers Hill Primary School have performed extremely well with the NAPLAN testing this year. Their results are above the average of the state, similar (same size, demographic and socio-economic status) schools and local / network (Monash and Manningham council) schools and reflect the quality teaching and learning programs we have here at Wheelers Hill Primary School.

Please keep in mind that NAPLAN tests are an assessment of a student's learning on one day at one time. The teachers conduct regular assessments of our students throughout the year to gain an overall understanding of their learning progress. Please chat with your child's teacher if you have any questions about their NAPLAN results.

Art Show- Next Week!

Don't forget to come to our amazing Art Show next week on Thursday 12th September. Every student in the school will have a piece of art work on display and it would be great if as many parents, family and friends of the school could attend if possible. We hope to see you all there at either the afternoon session, 3.45pm - 4.45pm or at the evening session from 6pm - 7:45pm.

Bids on the class canvases can be made via the link below:

Please note there will be no assembly next week as the hall will be unavailable due to preparations for the Art Show. Our last assembly for the term will be on Monday 16th September.

Exiting Students

With the exception of Year 6 students, please contact our school office if you are leaving our school for any reason at or prior to the end of Term 4. We are working out classes for 2020 and need to know our student numbers for next year.
