Kids Teaching Kids

Last Tuesday we had six Year 5 students attend the Kids Teaching Kids day.  Mount Waverley Primary School hosted the students for a day of fun filled activities focusing on Sustainability. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to work with students from other schools.

Students went on a tour of the school to see the kinds of things they do as a 5-star Resourcesmart Sustainable school. Students were also given opportunities to pot plants and participated in a Bee   incursion.

The students returned to school buzzing with excitement about all the things they would like to do ensure Wheelers Hill Primary becomes more sustainable.

Thank you to Kathryn McPherson for looking after our students for the day.

Congratulations also to our students – Catherine, Anantha, Akhil, Mikaela, Sharanya and Cleopatra- for representing our school so well.

NUDE FOOD DAY

This Monday we had our first NUDE FOOD DAY.  I thank families for supporting us with this – the response and support for our first Nude Food Day was fantastic.

Our Sustainability captains Tara and Izzie will announce the winning class at the first Assembly in Term 4.

We will hold two Nude Food Days in Term 4- dates to be announced soon.

ICAS

This week saw us finish the last two ICAS tests for 2019.

From a student’s perspective the tests ran very smoothly with just a couple of technical issues with ICAS managing the heavy usage to their website.

There have been a number of significant issues from an administration perspective which many schools are currently addressing with ICAS.  This has resulted in me being unable to tell you when results will be available.  I will provide a note via Compass as soon as I have been informed of this information.

I thank the teachers who have very capably helped me to administer the tests this year – Satoshi Okita, Sarah Cochrane, Lexi Smith, Sandra Posocco, Megan Peraic and Virginia Beshara.
