Director of Learning Innovation Report

Classes are continuing

Following on from the Prime Minister's announcement yesterday, Nazareth College will remain open and classes will continue as normal. If students have to work from home, the following protocols have been put in place:

  1. Make sure you can access your email, your Simon account and your school Google Account.
  2. If you do not have a device or if you do not have internet access at home, please email Ms Nailon on nailc@nazareth.vic.edu.au as soon as possible.
  3. Download the app for Google Classroom and the Zoom app.
  4. Take home with you any paper copies of texts, novels, and workbooks.
  5. Classes will run as per the normal timetable, but will also be offered remotely via the internet, Simon, Google Classroom and Zoom. You will be expected to engage with your normal timetable each day.
  6. You will be informed of a school closure by email and via Simon if this occurs.
  7. You will be expected to follow your timetable and log into classes at the direction of your teacher. Teachers may have a video conference via Zoom, collaborate on Google Classroom or work on exercises during that class. You will be able to upload tasks onto Google Classroom and receive feedback via Google Classroom.
  8. You can be prepared for a school closure by ensuring you have your computer and charger with you at all times and check emails and SIMON messages regularly.
  9. Download any electronic material for your classes while at school, in the event that internet may not be available or intermittent at home. Check your subject content with your teacher a week ahead and download material that you may need.
  10. VCE students will not have any SACs if the school is closed. These will be rescheduled when school reopens and we will work to ensure that the timing is fair for all students. All schools will be working closely with VCAA to ensure that no student is disadvantaged during this time.
  11. Until directed otherwise, classes will be running as normal so prepare for classes as normal, including preparing for any assessments.

Our students' wellbeing and learning are of the utmost importance to us.
