Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends of Nazareth College
What an extraordinary fortnight it has been! So many tough decisions to make and changes to implement.
For the past couple of months, our Community has been gearing itself towards celebrating our 35 Year Anniversary Carnival. It was devastating to have to decide to postpone it, but for the wellbeing of our Community and others, it was the correct call to make.
Like so many other activities that have been cancelled or postponed, we all need to take note of Government agencies (State and Federal), Chief Medical Officers and other governing authorities, such as Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM).
Together, we need to minimise the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus. Consequently, we are now preparing ourselves for offsite learning whereby the curriculum will continue to be taught on an online platform. In the past couple of weeks, I have been sending regular updates, which I will continue to do as information comes to hand.
I take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our Carnival Committee members, NCCA members, the large number of student volunteers and staff members who have worked tirelessly together with the Carnival Committee. Without these amazing people, the College would not be able to operate and provide Community functions. In this historic year of 35 years of Nazareth’s existence, we hope to run this event later in the year when we overcome the existing concerns relating to COVID-19.

…and a multitude of staff members who were very generous in giving of their time. For anyone who may have been accidentally omitted, please accept my apologies and sincere thanks.
Prior to this week, we had over five hundred (500) Primary Schools attending our Taster Days. This gives all Primary students an opportunity to trial a Secondary School experience.
From all reports, students had a wonderful day and were excited to take home items which they made throughout the day.
Attached is a letter of thanks from St Justin’s with photos of students participating in the program.
I thank all schools for their attendance.
In concluding this fortnight, I introduce to you the Learning Leaders of Nazareth College, led by Claire Nailon (Director of Learning Innovation) and Maurice Di Muzio (Director of Studies).
God Bless
Mr Sam Cosentino
