Young people face a future working life which will be marked by constant change. The economic impacts of COVID-19 have caused labour market disruption and job losses for many young people who are over-represented in hard-hit industries such as tourism, hospitality, and arts and culture. Many students have missed important milestones and struggled with the isolation imposed by lockdowns.
In this webinar, Dr Lyn O'Grady, a psychologist specialising in the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and their parents, will explore the potential impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on student emotional and psychological wellbeing which may create obstacles for students facing complex career decisions and transitions. Lyn will offer practical advice, strategies and resources for parents and carers supporting students in extraordinary times of change.
John Wollaston has joined the Containers for Change Refund Program!
For every eligible container recycled, John Wollaston will receive 10c to go towards environmental initiatives throughout the entire school.
Simply bring in your containers and place them in the blue bins in the ELC, Primary and Secondary areas. Or use the John Wollaston Change Refund ID C10344481 at any participating refund point and the funds will be automatically placed in the P&F account.
Funds raised will go directly to supporting our school to become more sustainable. Please encourage friends and family to support our school by sharing the Change Refund ID. Thank you to the P&F Association for providing the recycling bins for this initiative.

This term, we have an exciting opportunity for students in Years 2-12, parents and staff to engage in some physical activity before school. In Week 2, we will resume the JWACS Run Club. This will take place two mornings a week. The aim is for students to participate in physical activity, improve their attention in class, generate a love for movement, build strong connections and relationships across the School and develop strong teams for cross country and athletics events.
How does it work?
On arrival at the first session, participants will be required to log their name and lap count in the House-coloured folder. After completing the first session, a QR code will be made for the participant. Each session thereafter, participants will arrive and collect their Personal ID Card which has a unique QR Code on it from the box. This will be placed into their pocket and each time they complete a full lap, they scan their ID Card on the house coloured IPAD as they pass. This will count their laps and distances and will allow supervising teachers to see totals as the term progresses. During the term, we will be running a number of fitness sessions. These sessions will include a mixture of strength and cardio training, lap and HIIT (high intensity interval training).
When do sessions happen?
Beginning in Week 2, JWACS Run Club will take place each Wednesday and Friday from 7:30am to 8:00am. The supervising teachers will be Miss Fowler and Mrs Burman. Please drop your child to a staff member at the oval steps no earlier than 7:20am ready for a 7:30am start. It is important that participants arrive on time to receive all instructions for the session. In the event of bad weather, a fitness session will be held in the BDISC (gym). Students are not permitted to be left without teacher supervision.
What do I need to bring?
Primary students will be required to wear their school sports uniform and get changed into their formal uniform (if this falls on a formal uniform day) after the Run Club session has finished. Secondary students will be required to get changed into their formal uniform on completion of the Run Club unless they have Physical Education or Outdoor Recreation session 1. Students will also be required to bring a drink bottle and wear sensible running shoes (no skate shoes or studded shoes).
We look forward to welcoming Secondary students and parents at Run Club this year.
Hope to see you there!

To acknowledge these word of mouth referrals, the School is providing an incentive in the form of a fee credit for enrolments. The maximum value of the fee credit is one term’s tuition fees.
