From the Principal

I write as Melbourne has commenced its fourth lockdown since the onset of the pandemic. Many Victorians must shudder at the thought of isolating yet again after extended periods of lockdown last year. The negative impact on the physical and mental health of families and individuals was significant, so was not surprising to learn that that roads were busy with cars and campervans driving out of Victoria yesterday, desperate to avoid the impact of another lockdown.

In response to the growing concern in Victoria, our Premier has enforced a closed border to Victorians. I'm aware that we have members of our community who have been impacted by this turn of events and are now isolating for 14 days and adhering to the COVID-19 testing regime. Others are  required to remain in Victoria, unless they meet the criteria to enter WA. I wish you good health and extend the offer of support to your family should it be required.

Wollaston Care, which provides nourishing, homecooked meals to School families who are in crisis or experiencing very challenging circumstances, has been actioned on several occasions since its inception last year. Without exception, families have been grateful for the support of the School in this way. Mrs Wendy Brinner who in addition to her roles as Coordinator of the Uniform Store and Food Technology Assistant, is Coordinator of Wollaston Care, can be contacted through the School. Alternatively you are welcome to contact me. There is no charge to families for this service and discretion is assured.

I encourage Primary families to read this week's piece by the Head of Primary, Tracey Rogers. I support Mrs Roger's decision to review the rationale and purpose of certificates. The current structure, although very successful, has been in place for many years and needs a refresh. Importantly, students, staff and parents will be invited to have their say to determine the way forward. Your opinion is valued so please complete the brief survey via the link in Mrs Roger's article.

With good wishes.

Anne Ford
