Women of Colour, it’s time to LevelUP and create a career and life of freedom and fulfilment. 

The LevelUP program is an interactive and immersive 5 week career, business and leadership program for incredible Women of Colour. 

In this program you will:

  • Receive templates, tools and resources to develop your job, career, business and leadership skills and prospects.
  • Learn how to become a powerful and inspiring Woman of Colour leader by leveraging who you are and what makes you unique.
  • Receive mentoring from a successful Woman of Colour leader and entrepreneur to create, build and grow a career/business you love.

Australian Education systems session: for Syrian and Afghani communities 

The session will include topics such as the following:

• What the Australian education system looks like

• How to navigate the education system

• What are your rights as a parent and/or as a student

• How to communicate your child’s learning concerns to teachers and principals

• What happens if there is a disagreement between parents and teachers

• How to build good relationships with teachers

• How can parents support their child’s learning

(e.g. home-work, assessments and examination)

Airport Rail information session 

Have you been asking yourself, what is the rail-link construction about, where and when will it start, and what qualification do I need? This is the session where you will get all your questions answered.

In this session we will cover:

• What is railing construction

• How to get a head start in preparation for a job in railing construction

• What qualification will be required

• Positions within the railing construction industry

Announcing the 2021 Brimbank Writers & Readers Festival Program!

Brimbank City Council are thrilled to announce the program for the 2021 Brimbank Writers & Readers Festival, on from Thursday 17 – Saturday 26 June.

 

Now in its 16th year, the ten day festival is packed with author talks, panel discussions, interviews, workshops, and performance and storytelling events that celebrate creativity and diversity, and promote lifelong learning. 

 

As always, there is no charge to access these events. #BWRF 2021 Highlights Include:

• an evening with actor, author and Aboriginal Elder Uncle Jack Charles in Conversation with writer and journalist Paul Bateman

• panel discussions Below the Surface - When Black Meets White and Telling Community Stories through Art

• a Self-Sufficient Living workshop with veteran horticulturalist and author Craig Castree.

 

Join us for an evening with one of Australia’s most treasured actors, author and Aboriginal Elder Uncle Jack Charles.

 

There are multiple ways to enjoy this year’s festival with a number of live-streamed, pre-recorded and closed captioned events to make this program even more accessible to the community.

Positive Parenting Tips session - Saturday 12 June

Brimbank Libraries are hosting a free workshop with psychologist Michelle Vassallo titled ‘Positive Parenting Tips: How to get through the teenage years” 

 

The workshop aims to provide parents with information and tips on how parents can create a happy, supportive environment for their children as they navigate the teenage years. 

The session is free, and is running in person at the Deer Park Library on Saturday 12th June: 2:30-3:30pm.

Sunshine Youth Space is currently running an MS Paint/Paintbrush competition for youths. Selected entries will be exhibited and compiled into the special art edition of 'Stories from Sunshine Youth Space' during Youth Week 2021.
