Eclipse House News

Greta, Hazel and I are very happy to announce the arrival of our new baby boy. He arrived on Wednesday 2 June at 11.53am, meaning Liam Robinson is the winner of the baby arrival competition, being correct with both date and gender. Congratulations Liam. Both mum and bub are doing well, and we are excited to introduce him to the boys of Eclipse in the coming weeks. Thank you to Mrs Peta Spinks who will be running Eclipse House during my paternity leave. Peta will be ably supported by Levi and other staff.

The term has been moving along quickly with many hockey, football, volleyball and rowing sessions keeping the boys busy. There have been many early morning sessions and some boys training long into the evenings. Congratulations to all those students who have made Country Week teams. We have also had a number of boarders make the local paper or be promoted in teams. Rhori Williams-Jolley is having a strong season and Hamish Medway has also performed well for his North Albany team. Dan Cosh has been promoted in his football team too, whilst also competing for the school in volleyball this season.

It has been encouraging to see so many of the Year Ten boys recently accessing tutorial sessions in both English and HASS. We look forward to some strong results in the upcoming examinations. The Year Twelve ATAR students have been studying hard in the house over the last couple of weeks and are pleased that exams come to an end tomorrow. Those students on a General Pathway have also completed their Externally Set Tasks and are also enjoying the time off campus at their workplaces.

The boys have been enjoying various activities within the house lately, with many boys practising their piano or learning new pieces. Others have enjoyed learning new card games, such as Phase 10 or competing in pool or chess. We have had an external light attached to the harbour side of the house and so boys can kick the football for longer in the afternoon and evening.

Congratulations to those students who have recently obtained their licences, as this brings much excitement through the house. Just a reminder about getting in permission forms for driving before bringing a car to campus and remembering to drive slowly on school grounds.

Next week we are welcoming a new student to Eclipse House. Jakob Voss, a Year Twelve student, will be moving to Great Southern Grammar and boarding after the long weekend. He is excited to be joining our community and I’m sure all the boys, staff and families will extend a warm welcome to Jakob.

We had quite a number of birthdays during May, best wishes go to Darcy Barrett, Benjamin Ross, Samuel Egerton-Warburton, Liam Robinson and Hamish Medway.

Have a lovely long weekend and I will see everyone again in Week Eleven.
