Anchorage House News

The boys in Anchorage have been very busy this term with the commencement of Winter sports, NAPLAN, sports carnivals, Country Week trials, recreational activities, guest speakers as well as their regular school requirements. Throughout this term, they have developed relationships with their fellow boarders to support each other in navigating the organisational demands of boarding and school life. It has been great to see examples of boys looking out for one another. Recently, Brock Beeck volunteered to get cooked breakfast from the dining hall for a boarder with a sporting injury. Austin Brown wiped down all tables and benches after supper without being asked. The Year Seven boys have reflected that the highlight of commencing boarding has been making lots of new friends and being involved in activities that were not accessible at home.

We are looking forward to some painting and maintenance occurring in some of the rooms over the next school holidays, beginning the process of refreshing Anchorage. If your child’s room is being updated, we will ask that you to take home all their belongings over the holidays. We will advise those involved, closer to the time.

Year Nine boys will be able to bring a personal laptop as of Monday to use for gaming. Please note that it is only laptops that are permitted and not other devices such as personal computers. Games played on these devices must be no more than a M rating and only accessed during IT access times the same as the in-house X Box, this means not before school. These devices must be handed in along with phones and school laptops and not stored in bedrooms. This is a privilege for Year Nine boys and, if misused, the boys will be asked to take their laptop home. Please ensure you let me know if you bring one into boarding.

We welcome a new boarder, Thomas (Tommy) Millar to Anchorage, he will be starting on Monday. Tommy is in Year Nine at the day school, so is already known to your boys. We look forward to welcoming him to Anchorage House.

You will be invited to an afternoon tea on Friday 2 July at 2.00pm.  An invitation to Endeavour and Anchorage parents will be sent out closer to the event.

Best wishes go to both of our May birthdays, Brock Beeck and Tom Hams.

Please enjoy some photos of the boys from this term and I hope you have a wonderful long weekend.
