CELEBRATION OF LEARNING

CERES Excursion

The Year 1/2 students, teachers and parents had a fabulous time on their excursion to CERES last Monday. In line with our Term 2 Inquiry Unit - Sustainability, the excursion’s theme was all things waste. We rotated through three activities around CERES. On a Merri Creek walk, students collected and then sorted rubbish into the categories of landfill, organic waste, and recycling. We learnt about and made compost, and in what was undoubtedly the most popular activity, we made our own recycled paper by hand! The excursion highlight for many students was the unique and challenging playground which was explored during our breaks. The CERES staff were very impressed after a bin audit at the end of our excursion that showed only 1 plastic wrapper in the landfill bin for all 100 people in attendance. Grazie to the Year 1/2 parents who packed nude lunches! We look forward to seeing more nude food in lunchboxes at school.

OTHER INFORMATION

Change in library day

Due to timetable changes, the Year 1/2 library day has changed to Monday. Please ensure your child brings their library bag to school on Monday, as well as their books to return.  

At Home Maths Activity

To support your child's understanding of naming shapes, we have included a simple 'Snakes and Ladders' style game for you to play together at home.
