We have started a new lunchtime club - Chalk Club! Chalk Club runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday lunchtime Students are invited to share the chalk and draw some bright pictures on the bitumen in the playground. Every time it rains, our canvas will be washed clean!
The Foundation students have been turning their textured blob painting into a Hairy Creature! We started with a blob of coloured paint, then added a blob of white paint to make a lighter colour (a tone). We spread the paint out from the center of the page with a palette knife and scraped in lines to give our blob some texture. Now we are adding more texture with paper by using a paper cutting technique called fringing. The paper finging will represent the hair of our hairy creature. i might be short or long, curly or zig zagged or bent or straight.
The Year 1/2 students are almost finished with their contrast collages of day and night. I have loved seeing the students create something creative and unique each week. The next lesson will be to add finishing touches and describe places in their collage where they have made contrast.
The year 3/4s have almost completed their recycled fashion project. Their task was to manipulate and change textiles in different ways (like braiding, folding, fraying) and use these techniques to design an outfit for an Outdoor Adventure or Special Occasion. Their next step is to label where they used the techniques on their outfit.
The Year 5/6's clay pinch pots are completed! We started this activity in Term 1 and finally they are back from the kiln for the last time. The students have written a short description of what inspired their pinch pot and how they used line, shape or texture on their pot. Their descriptions have been printed on small cards to be displayed with the pots so that anyone who views them will know more about the creation.
