This Wednesday, nine St Raphael's students will head off to Bundoora Park and represent the school in the Darebin Division cross country. If any of these students finish in the top ten for their respective age group they will then run in the Northern region cross country, which is the final stage before the state championship. Congratulations to the following students; Aiden Gauci, Lily Matijas, Justin Rametta, Keira Sarris, Dean Sciulli, Aria Hatzilias, Alyssa Gozzo, Marc Capetola and Rebecca Beninati and good luck!
The last two weeks have seen our Year 5/6 students take on two of the Reservoir based schools in Holy Name and Reservoir West Primary. It has been really exciting to see each team develop and grow together with the netballers in particular showing real improvement under Ms Jamieson's tutelage. Their excitement was palpable as they left the grounds of Reservoir West with both teams victorious for the first time. The footballers tasted victory for the first time against Holy Name and were extremely gallant in going down to a very impressive Reservoir West lineup.

This week we take on Preston B at our home venues. Netball is at the school, while both soccer teams are at Cotchin Reserve and the AFL team head back to Zwar Park.
At the end of last year the school was successful in receiving a grant to buy some new tennis equipment. As a result we have been able to run a tennis program for the 3 - 6 students during P.E. this term. So far the focus has been very much on the forehand and having the right grip and back swing as well as controlling the ball. Once this is consolidated, we will then move onto the backhand and the relevant technique.
