Little Athletics State Representatives

Congratulations to the Year 7 students Bella Quin and Olivia Jones, who have been selected to represent Tasmania at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in the U13 division, which will be held in Canberra in April.  The announcement followed the State Individual Championships where Bella won gold in the U13 1500m and silver in the 800m.

Congratulations to all the Mount Carmel students who qualified and participated at the championships.

Rowing - North West Schools Regatta

The North West Schools Regatta was held at Lake Barrington on 29 February and 1 March, with our U13, U14 and U15 girls competing on both days.

The U14 Rowing squad, including Arlina Mullins, Ruby Bedelph, Amelia Doyle and Isla Gerathy enjoyed their first outing at Lake Barrington.  They had two races each over the weekend developing their skills and learning how to race. They were up against girls who were in their second or third season, so as beginners, they did well.

The U15 girls; Mia Reardon, Lucy Balfour, Olivia Hart, Kate Steele and Stella Riseley all rowed in the U15/U16 quads.  Olivia and Kate, as well as Mia and Lucy, teamed up to row double sculls, while Stella rowed her first race in a single scull.  Mia and Lucy also rowed in the U16 single scull.  The girls all rowed some great races over the weekend, in beautiful rowing conditions for the most part.

Ursula Nation also had a great weekend, winning her division of the U13 single scull and rowing composite crews with girls from Kingston High and Ogilvie High in a quad and double to achieve some fantastic results.

The next regattas are the Tasmanian Schools State Championships followed by the Head of the River.
