Library News

Library Leaders

This year we have asked any interested students from Year 6 – 10 to donate some of their time to provide service to the ORC.  A large number of girls registered and we now have a weekly lunchtime roster.

Students are trained in the operation of the library database and assist in the following duties:

  • Checking books in and out
  • Processing of new books
  • Shelving
  • General tidying of books
  • Assisting with queries
  • Repairing books
  • Plant care

Quiet Lunchtime Study Area

At the rear of the library we have create a quiet study area for students to work on homework, research and or assessment tasks.  Also at various times throughout the year we will have study only sessions for students to prepare for tests and examinations. Students will be notified as to when these are occurring.

New Compactus

In January we were very luck to receive a very generous donation of a compactus from Quinten Van Camp at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.  The compactus came at the best time possible for our library as our storage space had already been surpassed.

The compactus has enabled us to now suitably store all of our secondary class sets of novels and text books as well as create much needed space in our office areas.  A special vote of thanks must go to our Head of Maintenance, Tim Castano for assembling it. A massive job!

Décor upgrade

Students and parents would have noticed that we have upgraded the  décor in the Library by adding more comfy reading / quiet discussion   areas and placed a number of plants around the space.  Thank you again to the Parents and Friends Association  for providing the funds for this.
