Big Life finishes the term with a Toxic Bang!!!

This term Year 10 Big Life students have focussed on learning and applying two very powerful strategies; Re-framing Negative Thoughts and Problem Solving using the P.O.O.C.H. model.

With Spring in the air and the sun on our faces, the final class of the term was held outside on the new (and soon-to-be surfaced) basketball courts. The single goal of the session was to remove a bucket of toxic “Skittilium” from a radioactive fall-out zone, to a safe zone where it could undergo detox and be eaten (we used Skittles® in a bucket). Each class was given two ropes and they had to move an open bucket of Skittilium from the top of a wheelie bin out of the unsafe zone, 3m in diameter. No group member could go into the fall out zone to retrieve the bucket.

Both groups achieved the initial challenge with ease, and then tackled increasingly difficult tasks with teamwork, talk and a whole lot of problem solving. It was a great way to end a terrific term of Big Life.
