Student Representative Council - 'Talk Like a Pirate Day'

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a pirate? On 19th of September the SRC is holding a gold coin donation fundraiser where we encourage you to dress as a pirate!

The money we raise will help the Environment Captains with the garden for purchasing items such as seeds and tools. Our goal is $384. You don't need to come in full costume if you don’t have one. You can wear an eye patch or a bandana.

Please don’t go and buy anything, be creative and make something or wear an item that you already have at home. No coloured hair spray or face paint please.

Thank you,

SRRRRRRRC Team

Clothing colours:

  • 1A  - Blue

Year 3 News...

Year 3 Camp

On the 17th of August, the Year 3 students set of for their first ever school camp at the Briars in Mt. Martha. The students were filled with excitement and anticipation as for some of them, this was their first ever camping experience.

The Briars put on a fantastic camp for us with activities such as the Flying Fox, Hut Building, Teddy Bear Rescue, Low Ropes Course and Damper Making. Dinner was delicious with chicken schnitzel, ice-cream and jelly. The kids were then treated to a guest DJ for the Disco.

The students had an enjoyable time and they are looking forward to next years camp. A big thank you to all the staff that helped, particularly Julie Nield and Josh Kamoen who spent countless hours ensuring that the camp ran smoothly.

Geography 'Expo': Australia and Its Neighbours

On Tuesday 12th September, Year 3 students will be showcasing their Geography investigations on one of Australia's neighbours. Parents and friends will have the opportunity to visit New Zealand, Indonesia, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Timor Leste and a range of Pacific Islands all without leaving Ormond! Students have been working hard on their inquiries into the diverse characteristics of each country in the region; the culture, languages, climate, environment, traditions and lifestyles of Australia's closest neighbours. Perhaps you may even sample a tasty treat from that country! Parents and friends are welcome in the Year 3 classrooms from 2.30-3.15pm on the 12th. The students can't wait to share their work with you at their 'Expo'! See you there!

Inquiry Units - Term3

Year 4 have been studying rainforests and investigating the different layers of the rainforest and the effect it has on certain species.

"Year 4 grew lentil sprouts. We grew them for 10days. Some peoples were green, some turned yellow. I think that’s because some had less sun."  - Sacha  4B

"This is my bean experiment where we had to get into groups and experiemnet and see if the canopy had an affect on the growth of the beans. We measured it for 10 days and the outcome was that it had more growth without the canaopy." -  Shauna  4B

Year 6 Braeside Park Ride
