Refugee Week

Heading

On the 19th June we welcomed Agum Madit to the College whom spoke at our Refugee Week Assembly.

We were honoured to hear Agum Madit's story about her experiences of surviving unimaginable challenges and adversity, along with the joys and challenges of refugee settlement in Australia, with incredible resilience and hope. Through Agum's story we were reminded that we all carry an incredible resilience inside – that we can be strong in the face of adversity, to never give up on hope, and that we can be an independent voice of justice.

Following our Refugee Week Assembly the Presentation Community paused for ten minutes in a silent protest in solidarity with those who don’t have a voice – our Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

Then our Year 12 students held banners students had made on the overpass to share their messages of support to those seeking asylum.

Our stand in solidarity provides an opportunity for staff and students to be part of a united voice across the country, calling for a more just and humane welcome of people seeking asylum in the Australian community.

For World Refugee Day our Presentation students joined the Circle of Silence protest against the mistreatment of refugees. We are proud of our girls as they stood for compassion, solidarity, kindness, fairness and dignity for people seeking asylum. #PCWwithRefugees.
