Deputy Principal's Report

PCW Music Program
Albeit briefly, I recently had the pleasure of attending the PCW/CBC Music Camp. Having heard many of the stories and been witness to both the anticipation of going and the excitement upon return, I was intrigued to see what makes this event so special. It is now very apparent to me.
With around 120 students from both schools in attendance, the energy and enthusiasm from the group- instrumental teachers, classroom teachers and students- was contagious. I am the first to admit that I have little to no musical ability. However, the fact that there is at least one student I know who played the triangle in the Symphonic Band in year 12 as a means to attend the Music Camp, I now understand why one would do all that they could to be a part of this. Seeing students from both schools and across all year levels, of many abilities and skills, working together and having a great time, was truly inspiring.
The Music Program continues to grow at PCW. Having seen the Winter Instrumental Recital earlier in the term and the Music Showcase this week, the vast array of talent is apparent. Credit must be given to the girls for their dedication and hard work, as well as the teachers who teach them, honing their talents so that they give the best of themselves. Congratulations to one and all.
Important Dates
Although hard to believe, this week sees the end of the term and we move into Term 3. The first half of the year has been a very positive one, but not without its challenges. Particularly in recent weeks, with the cold weather, assessment due and illness, many of us have found it difficult. Nevertheless, through the support of one another- the signs of a strong community- many of us have made it to the holiday break in relatively good shape. There is no doubt the break will do many of us some good. Enjoy it and rest up, ready to return and embrace the challenges that the second half of the year will present.
