DON'T FORGET - PUBLIC HOLIDAY - MONDAY 8TH MARCH
Monday 8th March is a holiday for Eight Hour Day.
AUS/INDO Bridge Program – Visit to Southern
On a rather cool Monday morning this week, several grade 8 and 10 Indonesian Language students, plus year 12 Indonesian Language students, Jake and Bethany together with Mr Lawson and staff from the languages department were paid a visit by Associate Professor Greg Fealy and Phil Adams from the Australia Indonesia Institute, Dr Taufiq Tanasaldy, Head of Global Cultures & Languages, University of Tasmania, and Scott Ambrose, Principal of Calvin Christian School.
The purpose of the visit was to facilitate a wider discussion between the visitors and staff on engaging with Indonesia through education, including the learning of Bahasa Indonesia, intercultural understanding and experiences and opportunities and challenges faced when trying to deliver a quality Indonesian languages program.
Students had an opportunity to hear from both Professor Greg Fealy and Dr Taufiq Tanasaldy about the many opportunities available and benefits that come from learning Indonesian. Students were also given the opportunity to address questions to the visitors.
Overall, the visit proved to be an extremely positive experience for both staff and students, one which has reopened dialogue around how we can as a school continue to encourage and further engage our students in their studies of Indonesian in this new age of Covid and what will the future of Indonesian studies look like.

Southern's Midford Uniform Shop News
We are still unable to accept CASH at the Uniform Shop which I know is a nuisance. I am happy for you to ring me on 6122 0197 and pay for items over the phone if you do not wish to use the ONLINE SHOP.
Just remember I am here
Wednesdays 8.30am–3.30pm
Thursdays 12.30pm–3.30pm
When you do an ONLINE ORDER it comes directly to me and I am the one who fills your order.
Your child is allowed to come to the shop before school, recess, lunch and after school to collect uniform orders on the days I am open. Otherwise I will always leave your orders at the Office at the end of the day. Then you can collect them the following morning.
