Principal Report

Lockdown 3.0!

After such a positive start back to school this year, a big thank you to all of our staff, students, parents and carers for being agile and adaptable during this week's Covid-19 Circuit Breaker Lockdown. Whilst this was the last thing any of us wanted, it acted as a very timely reminder that we are still living within the parameters of the COVID-19 Pandemic and we all need to continue to place high priority on the things we need to do to stay safe; particularly hand hygiene, mask wearing, social distancing, staying at home when unwell and getting tested if we have any symptoms. It is also a reminder that we may have periods of time when our school moves to Remote and Flexible Learning. Our leadership team have spent time over the past few days preparing for this possibility and we are now well placed should we need to implement our Home Learning Program at short notice.

I also remind you that while members of our school community (parents, carers, volunteers and visiting teachers) are welcome to attend back onsite without restriction, we are still limiting onsite visitation by external providers and contractors.  This includes equipment repairs and trials, which will need to be undertaken at your home.

Belmore School Council

On Monday 15th February the 2020 Belmore School Council met online for the final time prior to the Annual General Meeting to be held in March.  Becoming a School Council member is an excellent way to become involved in our school and provides you with an opportunity to contribute to policy and program development.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our current School Council members who have been invaluable in supporting me in my role as school principal in leading the strategic direction and financial management of the school.

Parent members:

  • Brenton Carey (President)
  • Bronwyn Brown (Vice President)
  • Julia Trappett (Treasurer)
  • Michael Duffy

DET Members:

  • Rose Ngai
  • Anet Elbaz
  • Julie Nicholson (Minute Secretary)

Information will be sent home next week calling for nominations for the 2021 Belmore School Council.  This year we have one parent  and one staff vacancy.  Please take the opportunity to consider nominating and do not hesitate to contact me if you would like further information about the role of a School Council member.

SSG (Student Support Group) Meetings

MONDAY 1 MARCH - FRIDAY 12 MARCH

Disappointingly for all, our Meet the Team Around the Learner evening had to be cancelled this week - so to ensure our staff, parents and carers can meet up in a timely manner, we have brought forward our Student Support Group meetings.  At the first SSG meeting the focus normally is to discuss your child's Individual Education Plan (IEP), however due to missing our first get-together, this SSG meeting will also provide an overview of the school year, timetable, educational focus and programming.

Information will be sent home next week regarding SSG meetings and the online booking process.  The ‘schoolinterviews’ website will be used for you to book a time which bests suits you.  Attached is an information sheet on the roles and responsibilities of the Student Support Group (SSG).
