Indonesian

Halo Semua! Hi Everyone!

This term in Indonesian we are playing with the idea of identity.

Foundies are learning how to say “My name is” and notice differences and similarities about being Australian or Indonesian.

Juniors will make books about themselves which overlap with their Environmental science work by including places in their lives that make them happy.

Middles are learning to give information about themselves and their families including things they like. We plan to put our “me” books into a mini library “perpustakaan kecil” as part of the Me art exhibition at the end of the term.

Upper middles have been writing very creative stories about things people like, some examples are included below. We are focussing on expressing our identity through the foods we like or don’t like and aim to compare the origins of the foods we like to eat with our own cultural origins. We are hoping we’ll have time to turn our findings into a display for the Me Art exhibition at the end of the term.

Seniors are playing with the idea of identity by creating identities using fortune-teller boxes (chatter boxes) and creating our own zodiac systems. This is the start of a semester long unit. So far, our focus has been on talking about things people like, have and want and we are getting ready to use future tense to make predictions!

Here’s predicting a great year ahead!

Salam hangat,

Ibu Kas
