Mathematics Investigation
K/1/2 are learning to measure, record, compare and estimate lengths and distances using uniform informal units.
Does the tallest person have the longest foot?
Using informal units of measurement (paper clips, unifix blocks and string), the students measured our staff and their own feet to answer the question.
Mr Baird was the tallest staff member and he had the longest foot. Ms Traynor was the shortest staff member but she did not have the shortest foot.
In the classroom they discovered that the tallest person did not always have the longest foot.
Year 3/4 have been learning about Narratives and the structure of this genre over the last two weeks. A Narrative is a made up story.
