2020 was a difficult year for all Year 12 students - school was on, and school was off - the pandemic situation affected all our students, especially VCE students. Imagine if you live in a foreign country by yourself when this pandemic happened; you could not go back to visit your family and your family could not visit you, and you were doing VCE in your second language!

That’s what our international student, Annie Quach, was experiencing last year: Fear, uncertainty, homesickness, study pressure - Annie felt them all. But, against all odds, Annie persevered; she focused, she worked hard towards her goal, which was achieving good results and enter Monash university. She succeeded; she not only achieved a good score and was admitted into the Monash Science Department, she came out as our College Dux!

Annie, congratulations! You are such a dedicated, hard-working and focused student; we are honoured to have you studying with us for the past two years!

I would also like to mention Amber Li, our International Student Captain, an equally dedicated and hard worker, also achieved a high ATAR score and was admitted to Monash University.  Congratulations!

VCE Top Class | Season of Excellence 2020

Congratulations to our 2020 graduates Jemma Frisina, Jack Thomson, and Ayesha Sandhu, who have been selected to perform their top-scoring Theatre and Drama Monologues at the Top Class Season of Excellence! This is an incredible outcome for these students and a testament to their hard work throughout 2020 - a supremely difficult year overall, but especially for creating, rehearsing, and presenting live performance! Amazing work, team!

Year 9-10 Boys Cricket

Wheelers Hill win in super over thriller! The Year 9–10 Boys Cricket Team came through with a memorable win in the round robin cricket competition held on the March 1st. In the first game of the day against Brentwood, Wheelers Hill posted a very healthy 107 off 10 overs, with Connor N and Jordan G leading the way with the bat. Brentwood came out firing in their batting innings and after a good team effort with the ball they required 5 runs off the last ball to win, and 4 to draw. Finishing with a superb boundary, the game was tied, and after a small period of confusion and working out how the game would finish, a super over was decided to be the fairest way forward.

Josh M was chosen to bowl the super over and after some unlucky breaks in the field, Brentwood scored 16 runs and were deservedly considered favourites. But Connor N and Zane T had different ideas and took in their stride the difficult task of trying to chase down 17 runs for the win. Their fierce pressure proved too much for the Brentwood team who bowled 3 wides and gave us 6 runs in over throws, meaning that Wheelers Hill needed 2 runs off the last ball. Then another wide was bowled and Zane scurried through for a bye to give us the win. Huge celebrations followed for what was one of the most exciting up-and-down games in Wheelers Hill history.

The rest of the day proved much easier, with easy wins over Wellington and John Monash ensuring Wheelers Hill moves through to the next stage.

A terrific effort by all the boys. Thanks to Blake T from Year 12 for help with scoring and coaching across the day.

Year 9-10 Intermediate Softball

On March 1st, 2021, some of the Year 9 and 10 girls participated in the Intermediate Softball Tournament for the 2021 Into-School Sports. We versed two teams during the day: Brentwood Secondary College and John Monash Secondary College. Wheelers Hill won both games with great scores. In the first game against Brentwood, Wheelers won 21-16, and in the second game against John Monash, Wheelers won 22-1.

All the girls in the team played very well with three home runs, from Gabby W, Zienna McC and Jessica S. Awesome pitching and catching throughout the day and amazing batting from all the girls in the team. Overall the girls played very well and will go to regionals in early April.
