Greetings from Shaun...and  Sam and Lucy

This weeks Greetings from Shaun is a shared message from Shaun, Sam (the Fete Boss) and Lucy (Community Sub-Committee Convenor).

We have been pretty tight lipped about the Fete since the event finished, but we have some news that we wanted to share with you all, the 2023 Northcote Primary School fete was HUGE success!

I think we can all agree that our Fete was awesome, and finally we can tell you just how awesome it really was. While the wind wasn’t blowing us any favours, we still managed to make over $40,000 on the day!

This is an incredible achievement for the school and the wider community. . The big takers were bar the $9600, Beef Brisket $6700 and Helen’s Harvest $6500.

The biggest money maker however was the Silent Auction stall bringing in a whopping $13,700! That is a truly remarkable effort.

A big thank you to all our sponsors who contributed and donated to the fete.

In the gust's of wind on the day, you might have missed the display at the Northcote PS stand, but this year the plan for the fundraising efforts are to go towards-

  • upgrading the bike and shelter sheds
  • a high bench in the canteen for classes to hold science & cooking classes
  • inclusive play spaces and cosy nooks around the grounds
  • a new fridge for the canteen to replace the broken fridge, and
  • a new BBQ for our Working Bees and school events.

As an update, last year's fundraising efforts are going towards getting two split system air conditioning units in the classrooms on the block and soon you’ll see some more outdoor picnic settings pop-up around the school grounds for students to use.

Thank You Morning Tea

As a way of saying thank you to the many, many  volunteers from our school community, NPS will be hosting a special Morning Tea before school on Wednesday 24th May from 8.30 to 9am  served from the canteen. This will be for all of our volunteers and people who came along and supported our incredibly successful 2023 fete.

Please be sure to come by and grab yourself a coffee or tea and some sweet treats, while hopefully catching up with a few familiar faces.

It was such a great day for absolutely everyone involved, from the rides, the food, the entertainment, the bands, the singing and the dancing, and everyone that got up on stage - the atmosphere was just electric.

We would also like to take this oppurtunity to again thank everyone who volunteered their time and support. The amount of planning that went on in the background to coordinate the rides, the activities, the food stalls, the bar. The event logistics alone were a mammoth task. It just couldn’t have been done without our Fete Boss Sam, alongside her support team Mariana (ride queen), Kristy (cake & food boss) and Louise (silent auctioneer) and the whole fete committee. You are all absolute super stars.

Now for some more exciting news, we need you to all take out your calendars and mark the date for the Northcote Primary School Fete for 2024, be sure to block out Saturday the 16th of March 2024 in your diaries!

But the excitement doesn't stop there, we are planning an even bigger fete for next year, which will also include part of the Northcote Primary Schools 150 year anniversary celebration.
