Year 8 Camp Week

Week 2 saw the Year 8’s heading off on camp to Sunnystones just outside of Bacchus Marsh.

Students were split into 2 groups spending 3 days on camp,1 day of normal classes and 1 day in a Wellbeing and Cooking Program at school.

On camp, students participated in a range of activities such as canoeing, raft building, archery, treasure hunt, bush cooking, low ropes and games. It was a great social time for students who took advantage of the opportunity to explore their environment or sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows.  I would like to thank the Year 8 staff who came along to camp.

The Wellbeing Program involved practical skills and information sessions. The boys focused on food, exercise and sleep and the girls focused menstrual cycles and the challenges around those. We would like to thank Jeremy Barren for his organisation of these programs and thank Andre DeLorenzo and Tara Morrissy for giving up their time to work with our students.

The Cooking Program was spent making meals for St Vinnies. Students made a whopping 786 meals for St Vinnies and our school Food Bank program. Students then spent some time with Paul Kennedy from St Vinnies learning about where their meals will go and the importance of this program for the local community. We would like to thank Tony Duggan and Lynne Wheal for their work with students to prepare all the meals.
