Apollo Bay Music Workshop

Apollo Bay Music Workshop Day

On Wednesday 17 May, Kelly Kerr and 13 students from our concert band travelled to Apollo Bay P-12 school to have a full day of playing music with their band. Rehearsing and performing with them is such an amazing and beneficial experience for all. We are all so grateful for their welcoming atmosphere, awesome musical students and their fantastic conductor Kate and our music teacher Kelly. I couldn't be more happy with how the day went.

The day started with a practice of some of the new songs that our schools have put together this year. These songs include La Bamba, Thriller and Gimme Some Lovin' as well as some songs that we learnt last year. After we had an amazing morning tea each of the instruments split off into sectional practice, this was really helpful as it gave all the players one on one time with someone who played their instrument and helped others get to know their parts. After lunch we set up in the Leisure Center for a concert for the P-6s as well as the Year 10s and some parents. We played all our songs for our audience. Half way through our performance we had a raffle. The raffle prize, a new Yamaha speaker, was provided by 2 sponsors from Yamaha who travelled the three hour drive from Melbourne to Apollo bay. Overall it was an amazing day, playing music with new and different people was a great experience and the day was a great success.
