Year 7 Football

The Year 7 football team travelled to Central Reserve to take on Colac Secondary College and a combined Apollo Bay/Lorne side where Trinity came away with strong wins in both games. The boys moved the ball with ease out of the midfield with co-captains Jarryn Baker and Reece Charles providing plenty of drive and attacking opportunities throughout the day. The boys were a pleasure to coach and will now travel to Ballarat in the next stage.

2023 House Cross Country

Our House Cross Country took place last Tuesday 9 May. Luckily the rain stayed away, and conditions were perfect for our 5km run around local Elliminyt streets. The times that our students produced were excellent, with 4 times under 18:15 minutes which was fantastic. The top 8 students in each age group will be given the opportunity to compete at the Greater Western Championship on Monday 29 May.

This was the last House Sports activity for 2023 and it would be remiss of me not to congratulate all of the students who took part in not only the Cross Country event, but all of the House Sports this year. I would also like to thank parents for supporting the House Cross Country and encouraging your children to take part in the day. Resilience and persistence are two very important qualities which we all want to instill into our students and children, and participation in the House Cross Country certainly exemplifies this.

House Cross Country Champions for 2023 are McAuley. It was very close between the top 3 houses with only 31 points separating 1st and 3rd. The results were as follows:

McAuley 1124

Mackillop 1121

Rice 1093

Glowery 785

Last, but not least, thanks to all of our staff who ran, rode and walked, or supervised safety on the day. We cannot hold these days without you all.

Senior Football

On Thursday 4 May the Senior Football Team played in the School Sport Victoria Coastal competition. A victory in this game would mean that Trinity progresses to Greater Western stage. Unfortunately, Apollo Bay and Lorne were not able to enter a senior team so it meant that only one game against Colac Secondary College.

Senior coach, Peter Harrington, took a large squad to Central Reserve in order to provide all students wanting to participate the opportunity to do so. With a break in the Coates Talent League Under 18 competition we had access to just about a full list of players, although injuries did mean that some players were unavailable.

The game was played in great spirits with many players from each side knowing each other well. Trinity proved too strong and recorded a comfortable victory with all players contributing in a fantastic team effort.

The team will have the opportunity to play in a ‘friendly’ against Mercy College in Camperdown before the Greater Western competition takes place.

Year 10 Volleyball

On Wednesday 3 May, Year 10 Girls competed in the GWR Intermediate Volleyball Competition in Horsham. The girls were very keen to play Volleyball and took the opportunity for lunch time coaching. After 7 weeks of training, the girls had improved their skills significantly. The girls did really well in the competition and although they weren't able to come away with a win on the day, they had some very close sets. We were very impressed with their enthusiasm in this new sport. Thank you to parents for your support on the day.

Coastal Division Senior Boys Soccer

Trinity v Apollo Bay

A great contest between two evenly matched teams, with Trinity coming out on top. Trinity took the upper hand early with great goals coming from Kingston Balboni & Toby Martin, making it 2-0 at the half. Apollo Bay hit back with a goal of their own to make the score 2-1 with 12 minutes still on the clock. Some great opportunities to score were created by both teams, but neither scored again, with Trinity coming out victorious 2-1. A great game played with fantastic spirit by both teams. Trinity’s star players were Kingston Balboni, Toby Martin & Sam Hutchinson, with solid contributions made by all members. Many thanks to Darren Balboni for refereeing the match.
