Trivia Night last Saturday – Thank-you!
Thank-you to the people who came along and supported our Parent’s Association led ‘Trivia Night’. Although small in numbers, those in attendance had a great night full of interesting trivia, music and auctions.
A special thank-you to Bronwyn Clarke and team of helpers from the Parent’s Association for co-ordinating and running the night. Bronwyn, although initially nervous, did a superb job acting as MC. We also appreciate support from those who donated prizes for our silent auctions and of course, those who purchased items through the auctions. All money raised goes towards our PA initiative for 2023 – purchasing digital signage for the front of the school.
Year 5/6 Interschool Sport (Winter Sports) – Continues Friday 2nd June
The year 5/6 students have now completed three rounds of Interschool Sport, two away games and one home game. It has been pleasing to hear our students have been demonstrating our school values of respect, responsibility and resilience. Competing against larger schools can be challenging, however the Albany Rise ‘never give in’ attitude by our students makes all proud.
This Friday 2nd June we host Mount Waverley Primary School. Please note that SOCCER and ROUNDERS will be held at Southern Reserve. We always welcome parent support on the day, so if you are available to lend a hand, please contact your child’s teacher. GO ALBANY RISE!
REMINDER: Parent Teacher Meetings and 3-Way Conferences – Wed 14th and Monday 19th June
It’s the time of the year when classroom teachers and students have the opportunity to share progress, celebrate successes and set new learning goals for semester 2 with their parents/carers.
Thank-you to the parents/carer’s who have already booked their parent/teacher meetings (F-2) or 3-way conferences (Yr.3-6). A reminder to get on to COMPASS and book NOW so you don’t miss out on a time that best suits you.
Foundation to Year 2 students have 10-minute time slots to meet with classroom teachers on Wednesday 14th June (after school only) and Monday 19th June (after school only).
Year 3-6 students have a 3-Way, student-led conference of 15 minutes on Wednesday 14th June (times available throughout the day and after school) and Monday 19th June (after school only).
Please log on to COMPASS to book your time(s): https://albanyrise-ps-vic.compass.education/
If you are unavailable to make times available, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange another suitable time.
Smile Squad – Free Dental Care
A reminder to all parents/carers that we will be hosting ‘Smile Squad’ at ARPS from 5th - 16th June. Smile Squad is a FREE DENTAL SERVICE offered for government schools. Please lodge your interest so your child(ren) can take advantage of this FREE service. More more details, log on to www.smilesquad.vic.gov.au or collect a form from the office.
Student Attitude to School Survey
Over the past two weeks, students from Years 4-6 have completed the Student Attitudes to School Survey. This survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students’ perceptions and experiences of school. As a school, we use these results to celebrate successes and explore ways we can improve student’s experiences.
Winter Is Here – Adjusting Clothing To Suit
As winter has now arrived, please be mindful that your child(ren) are dressed appropriately in a full school uniform each day. This includes warm school jumpers and weather-proof jackets. It’s always great to see students wearing beanies and gloves, as they can function better in the classroom when they are warm and happy. Please ensure that all clothing is clearly NAMED. We often find an increase in lost property arriving at the office unnamed.
Please note that the school has a small amount of second-hand clothing for sale. If you have the need, please contact the school office.
EXCURSION/INCURSION PERMISSIONS AND PAYMENTS – Please Assist Everyone by being Punctual
There are times parents/carer’s are required to log in to COMPASS to provide permission and payment for upcoming excursion and incursions. We try to give plenty of notice to complete these and even provide regular reminders. We ask that permissions and payments are completed BY THE DUE DATE to avoid unnecessary distress for students and staff.
There seems to be a pattern where some parents/carer’s are contacting the office on the day of the event, expecting staff to process requests at the very last moment. This puts unrealistic demands on our office staff and can even delay buses from leaving on time. Please assist by completing permissions and payments promptly, no later than the due date. Thanks for your understanding and assistance.
