Year One and Two Swimming Program

We have an exciting week ahead with our swimming program commencing on Monday the 22nd of May. The program will run all week and end on Friday the 26th of May. This is a great opportunity for students to learn important water safety skills and enhance their swimming abilities. Students are required to wear their bathers underneath their school uniform during the week of the program. It may be helpful to ensure your child knows how to dress themselves prior to the program starting, as they will need to get themselves dressed after their swimming sessions have ended.

To assist us in ensuring the program runs smoothly, please ensure you send your child to school with a bag (separate to their school bag) that contains a:

  • Clean pair of underwear
  • Towel
  • Goggles
  • Plastic bag for wet bathers
  • Hairbrush if required

ICAS Competition

Year Two students are welcome to enter the ICAS competition, an online academic competition that will help you develop your critical thinking skills and challenge your knowledge in different areas. More information including how to enter your child can be found by following the link below. If you have any questions regarding ICAS then please direct them to your classroom teacher.

School lunches and cutlery

We have recently noticed that a lot of students have been asking for cutlery to eat their lunch with. Please ensure you pack cutlery for your student to eat with if they require it, we seem to be giving out a lot of forks and spoons that sometimes don't come back!

Mobile phone and Device policy

This is just a reminder that students are not permitted to use mobile phones or devices that can make calls or send text message while at school. We have noticed quite a few students coming to school wearing smart watches that have these capabilities. Please ensure these stay at home. Per our policy, if a student brings or wears one of these devices to school, it will need to be given to the classroom teacher and locked away until the end of the day, where it will then be returned to the student. This also ensures students don't lose something that may be quite expensive too!

Pokemon Cards - Year Two

Due to the issues surrounding the trading of Pokemon cards, and the arguments and distraction that they have been causing, the Year Two teachers have made the decision to ban all Pokemon cards at school. Please make sure your child does not bring these to school to ensure they are focusing on their learning. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Mont De Lancey Excursion

In Week 7, Year Two will be visiting Mont De Lancey which is a historical homestead located in Wandin North.

On the excursion we will visit the museum, watch a Blacksmith at work, look through an old house and play some olden day games. We will attend an olden day school on the premises with a very strict teacher!

Over the next couple of weeks, please start thinking about what your child can wear to this excursion because we are asking for all children and parent helpers to be dressed up in olden days clothes eg. shawl, long dress/ skirt, shirt (with braces), shorts or knee length socks with shoes if you don't want to wear boots. It will be cold so remember to dress warmly. Remember to pack a water bottle, snack and lunch are required too in a small backpack. Please email your classroom teacher if you would like to assist as a parent helper on this day (Working With Children Card required).
