Picture Plate Fundraiser

Thank you to all the families who have participated in our Picture Plate Fundraiser.  These are a gorgeos keepsake of your children's drawings, and the kinder also get a little bit of the proceeds to spend on some new equipment at the kinder for all the children to enjoy. A reminder all drawings need to be returned by Friday 19th of May.

Photos

Next week we have the lovely Jina returning to our kinder again to take photos of the children.  Registrations close in Sunday 21st May at 8pm. Individual photos of your child will not be taken unless you have registered: https://www.studiozphotography.com.au/vermont

Please see your emails for more information.

Once your photos are ready you will receive a link to view the photos and chose which ones you would like to purchase.  Good luck choosing, because I know they will all be equally adorable!  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.  See above in the important dates for your child's groups day for photos.

Upcoming Curriculum Day

On Wednesday 14th June, sessions will not be running while the staff have a day for Professional Development.

On this day the team will be working on a new Assessment and Learning Tool developed by the University of Melbourne in conjunction with the Department of Education.  We are hoping this tool will be able to be used to support conversations with parents about their child's development.  You will all receive a Summative Assessment of your child at the end of this term, marking the mid way point of the year.

This year this will be supported by the Tool and will hopefully make it easier for parents and teachers to set goals for the remainder of the year.

We do apologise for the inconvenience of a curriculum day but they are important for the teachers to have time to discuss, explore and learn about new initaitives in the sector.

3YO's Wear it Yellow Day - An initiative of Children’s Ground

As part of our National Reconciliation Week this year, on Tuesday 30th May for Banksia and Thursday 1st June for Wattle, are taking part in a yellow-themed casual dress day to raise funds for a First Nations organisation, Children’s Ground. The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2023 is ‘Be a voice for generations.’ This theme encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and play. That is why VPSK has chosen to participate in Children’s Ground’s ‘Wear It Yellow’ day. As part of ‘Wear It Yellow Day’, students will engage with National Reconciliation Week learning materials and have vibrant discussions about First Nations culture and history. We that children who take part to donate a gold coin to Children’s Ground via this link https://wearityellow.org.au/vermont-primary-school-kindergarten or bring a donation on the day. For more information on Children’s Ground, head to https://childrensground.org.au/
