Sustainability

Recently we had a visit from the Gardens for Wildlife team from the Whitehorse City Council, who have provided us with some useful tips and plant suggestions to make the school grounds more habitat friendly and support our sustainability curriculum.  Look out for changes and additions to our gardens around the school in the weeks ahead. There will be some exciting developments!

Gardens for Wildlife can come to your garden too.  The more families that participate, the better Vermont will be for native birds and insects.  More information on how to get involved is on their website here:

Compost Champions

At assembly this week, our Sustainability leaders, Henry and Jai, asked the Planet Savers to monitor the classroom compost bin, to make sure only the right food scraps were being placed in there.

The leaders were excited to announce that we are introducing a Compost Champion competition! A sticker is given to each class that has no incorrect items in their compost bin when it comes to collection on Friday. The class with the most stickers at the end of the term will be crowned 'Compost Champion' and will be awarded the Compost Cup to look after for the next term.  Good luck Planet Savers!
