Principal's Page

Dear Families,

Since the last newsletter, I met with the whole school to discuss behaviour. I reminded everyone that last year both students and staff wanted St Joseph's to be a happy, safe place and so we agreed on three behaviour expectations to:

  • be respectful
  • be safe and
  • be a learner

We believe it is important to have high expectations and the important role that we all, students, parents and staff,  have in assisting each other with this.  If expected behaviours are not met  all students understand that they will have five minutes time out, repeat offenders will have time off the yard and parents will be called for more extreme behaviours. Staff have been following this process since we agreed on it but aim to have greater consistency.

Please be aware of the language students are exposed to, what they view on You Tube, video games they play and even the nightly news. Some popular culture is not respectful behaviour and we don't want it creeping into 'normal' behaviour here at St Joseph's. Let's encourage our children to be kind in both words and actions

Signora Varrenti

We wish to congratulate and thank Roberta Varrenti for not only her time and dedication in teaching Italian here at St Joseph's over the past five years but also her long career spanning more than 40 years. Her passion and desire for sharing her culture has been evident in all her lessons and extra events. We wish her the very best for her retirement and the new adventures that await her.

 Reconciliation Week

Thank you to our FIRE Carriers Student Leaders for leading several lunchtime activities throughout the week.

Shade Sail

Our large shade sail from the Victorian Government's School Shade Sails Fund has finally been installed. We look forward to the many possibilities this covered outdoor learning space will provide.
